Despite what some have claimed is opposed by 80% of locals, the practice of catch-and-kill at the Australian government's request will proceed. Although the broadcaster refers to the weapon used to kill the shark as a shotgun, experts have noted that it was actually a .22 which may in fact be inhumane simply due to it's lack of power to cleanly kill the shark.
