2014 Great White Sharks off Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard!

2014 Nantucket Great White Shark Breaching

Fisherman Sean Cavanaugh was 100 miles off Nantucket when captured this video of a Great White Shark breaching several times, completely in the air, in a dramatic type of jump most are only familiar with because of "Shark Week:" footage originating in South Africa.

The crew of "The High C's" thinks the shark, estimated to be 15 to 18 feet long, may have ended up out of the water after a few high-speed but failed attacks on a marlin.

"You could see the shark's mouth wide open, teeth and everything!"

The video below is part of a larger story at NBC affiliate 7 News WHDH in Boston

This is not the first great white shark sighting in the Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, and Nantucket area.
Over the 4th of July Weekend 2014, a 14 foot female Great White was spotted in 12 feet of water off Nauset Beach in Orleans. The Boston Globe has a phenomenal story HERE but the data and images are actually come from the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy whose published mission is to "Support scientific research, improve public safety, and educate the community, to inspire conservation of Atlantic White Sharks."

The team at Shark Video News is off to Nantucket this weekend with Captian Bart and his RIB Whiskey Tango to explore a near surface sandbar popular with seals about halfway between Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket - Stay tuned!
